Sen. Marleau announces committee leadership assignments

LANSING – State Sen. Jim Marleau, R-Lake Orion, today announced the committees that he will lead for the 2011-2014 legislative term in the Michigan Senate.

Marleau was selected as chairman of the Senate Health Policy Committee, vice chair of the Senate Insurance Committee and will serve on the Banking and Finance, Energy and Technology, and Redistricting committees.

“As a lifelong businessman and small business owner, I’m excited about the prospect of reducing the cost of health care and protecting the quality of care in Michigan,” said Marleau. “It is one of the few parts of the state’s economy that is actually growing. I am also looking forward to continuing my work with the insurance industry as vice chair of that committee.”

In the state House, Marleau served as Republican chair of the Health Policy Committee.
